On Sunday, the 27th of January 2013, the
hostel students moved into their new home for the year, the Prestige Academy Hostel, called Lots of
Joy, Fun and Hope.
Crowds of weary individuals slowly made their way through
the hostel gates, parents clutched firmly in one hand, and their belongings in
the other (Baggage, however, managed to stash luggage in places we are all still
trying to figure out). Nonetheless, they had arrived, and we were ecstatic
about it.
Once the students were settled into their respective
rooms, the hostel induction program began. Here, the koshuis “brakke” learned the fine art of
“juiging”, some became accomplished play-writes and others runway models. They
spawned young eggs, painted banners, t-shirts and their own mugs, and found
their happiness within the confines of our humble little hostel.
Moustaches were grown, bricks were counted, cars were
washed, floors were mouth-blown dry, nappies were worn and pizza eating
champions were born! It was the stuff of legends.
It is safe to say that respectful, wonderful individuals,
with their new unique names (assigned to them by the SRC), were the product of
this induction period. We saw friends made and fun had by all.
