28 September 2013

Finally...the day has come that Prestige and Centurion Academy make history by initiating their first ever soccer team.
Skilled and diverse students have signed up for the team whether for friendly competition, to get fit or to just have straight-up fun. The first practice was held on Thursday 19 September 2013, in the most unforgiving Cape Town weather; to say we got wet is an understatement! But nevertheless, we pushed through the rain and cold and trained for two straight hours. Some have not used certain muscles, or inhaled that much oxygen for months now, or ever, but there is definitely potential. On Monday 23 September 2013, our 2nd official practice took place, and with much gratitude to Andre Lee Adams from Centurion Academy (2nd year Sport Management student) for organizing the team two coaches, namely coaches, Zain  and Mashinga,  to prepare us for the upcoming tournament in the short time we have. Much thanks to them!
The tournament we are preparing for will be held at UWC on 11 October 2013; it’s a 25 minute-a-side game. Each team will be playing at least three matches, with the best top two from each group playing in the knockout stages. The tournament starts at 09:00am. Anyone is welcome to come and support.
For more information, please contact Mr. Jacques van Heerden at jacquesv@prestigeacademy.co.za or Grant Vermeulen, grantvermeulen@yahoo.com
Please keep a look out for the pre-tournament statistics on the players who will be competing.
