On Monday, the 28th of
January 2013, Centurion Academy and Prestige Academy (CAPA), held their annual
opening ceremony at the Bellville Civic Centre.
New students flocked to the Civic
Centre in the hope to gain a little more knowledge about what they can expect
of the 2013 academic year, which they did… After repeatedly singing the national
anthem, and watching some of the hostel induction procedures, which entailed a
few war-cries, some traditional “juiging”, and the reenactment of the New
Zealand, “Hakka”.
Mrs Gallowitz introduced the new
students and their parents to the CAPA family, and declared the 2013 academic
year officially open.
Shortly after, motivational
speaker, Elsabé Ulrich, left the students and their parents with a
message that surely left a lasting impression.
Amongst this, was the SRC’s
pledge into their term of office, as well as the handing over of their badges.
The students then received their
student packs, had their student ID photos taken and received their bags and
tops.
A few familiar faces also showed
up at the Civic Centre; the second and third year students, to collect their
student packs, and received information about the new marking system
implemented this year at the CAPA group.
The SRC closed the day off, with
a more light-hearted introduction to the “academy life” and what they can
expect, socially, for the year.
We look forward to what this year
has in store for us socially and academically, and we’re stoked to have the new
first years join us in the fun!
