It was the 28th of January 2012, and for most what seemed to be an average Monday morning, was not for the first years of Prestige Academy.
The new students arrived at the Bellville Civic Centre, wary and waiting in anticipation to find out what Prestige Academy had in store for them for the year.
Upon arrival, the students were welcomed by the SRC as they watched how the SRC further conducted their induction programme with the hostel students. Some first years joined in on the fun, by singing the national anthem with the hostel students, with pride! The students then moved into the Bellville Civic Centre, to receive their student packs.
After a few minutes of uncertainty, and a bit of hesitance, the first years started to make new friends as they waited, patiently, for Mrs Liebenberg’s presentation in the auditorium.
Once they were herded into the auditorium, the first years were informed as to how things run at Prestige Academy. After this, the SRC had the chance to show the first years who they are and what they do, and ended the long and overwhelming day off, with a bit of lingo, the first years could all understand, and relate to.
By now the first years have all gotten the hang of what it feels like to be out of high school, and can all officially call themselves, students.
We have plenty of joy and excitement when we say, “Welcome to the Prestige team!” and we look forward to the year ahead.
