Lecturers planting the Olive tree. |
On Wednesday, the 18th of July 2012, Madiba turned 94 years old. With his campaign to get the country to do 67 minutes of good deeds (for the amount of years he was in our country's service), the staff at Prestige Academy decided to plant an Olive tree (resembling peace) in front of our campus building.
67 Minutes to plant a tree?!? Have you ever? But I'll assure you that this is no quick-fix deed. This Olive tree will be nurtured by all of the staff, who will take turns at watering it and ensuring that it grows properly.
The students were also very keen to do their time. Jarryd Beighton, a second year Business Management student at Prestige Academy, made 67 sandwiches for a non-profit organisation called Sarmie Mommie, a group of mothers that make sandwiches for the less fortunate. Pretty cool, right? Right! What champions!
Kudos to all those who took part in giving back! Your good deeds didn't go unnoticed.
