It was not even light out on Saturday, the 14th of April 2012, when some of the staff and students at Prestige Academy, took part in their first ever beach clean-up.
With our black bags and surgical gloves, we took on Blouberg beach, in the early hours of the morning, hoping to make a difference. We each, easily, filled our black bags with the rubbish that was polluting a large part of the Blouberg shoreline, and had fun doing it!
As we stood back and looked on the beach, it was evident that we had made a difference and left our Prestige footprint in the Blouberg sand.
It is amazing how a far a little initiative, and those willing to lend a helping hand, can go. We hope to have more of these beach clean-ups in the near future, and with each one, we hope to get more and more of the students involved in giving back to their community.
